What you'll accomplish

By the end of this guide, you'll have Otter.ai set up to automatically transcribe your client calls, and a workflow to feed those transcripts into Claude to extract a structured creative brief — complete with deliverables, audience, aesthetic preferences, and timeline — that you send to the client for sign-off before starting any design work.

What you'll need

  • Otter.ai account ({{tool:Otter.price}} — free plan handles personal calls; Pro for automated joining)
  • Claude account (free tier at claude.ai is sufficient for this workflow)
  • Zoom, Google Meet, or phone — whichever you use for client calls
  • Time needed: 30 minutes setup; ~15 minutes per call after that
  • Cost: {{tool:Otter.price}} for Otter.ai; free for Claude

How-To Guide: Transcribe Client Calls Into Structured Creative Briefs

Step 1: Create your Otter.ai account

  1. Go to otter.ai and click Sign Up
  2. Use your Google or Microsoft account for quick setup (or email)
  3. On the onboarding screen, select Work as your use case
  4. Choose your plan — the free plan gives 300 minutes of transcription per month, sufficient for most designers with a few client calls per week

What you should see: Your Otter.ai dashboard with a "New Conversation" button and an empty conversations list.
